"Munich? Paris?" Ella put in breathlessly.
"All wrong," Lord Ashleigh declared. "New York!"
There was a momentary silence. Ella's eyes were sparkling. Her mother's face had fallen.
"New York!" Ella murmured. "There is wonderful music there, and Mr. Delarey knows it so well."
Lord Ashleigh nodded portentously.

_The Black Box_ is a series of loosely connected short stories detailing the adventures of Sanford Quest, world\'s greatest criminologist. I read most of it then moved on - awkward dialog, predictable plot, and points of interest few and far between.

This book reminds me of the old Republic Pictures movie serials--cliffhangers abound. It moves right along with one adventure after another for Sanford Quest, the greatest criminologist of the age. There are two main plot lines which merge into one along with romance mixed in with the ever present danger. Give it a try, I enjoyed it.
